SC / ST COMMITTEE

The SC/ST Committee at Mahath Amma Institute of Engineering and Technology has been formed with the primary objective of empowering SC/ST students within the college community. This committee is dedicated to providing support and assistance to students from these communities, ensuring their integration into the mainstream academic and social life of the institution. One of the key functions of the committee is to facilitate access to financial support available from government agencies and other sources for SC/ST students. This includes scholarships, grants, and other forms of financial assistance that can help alleviate economic barriers to education .Additionally, the committee actively encourages SC/ST students to participate in soft skills and career orientation programs. These programs are designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about their career paths and to excel in their chosen fields. Furthermore, the committee ensures that SC/ST students receive special attention and support within their respective academic departments. This may include mentorship programs, remedial coaching classes, and other forms of academic assistance tailored to the specific needs of these students. Overall, the SC/ST Committee plays a crucial role in fostering the academic success and holistic development of SC/ST students at Mahath Amma Institute of Engineering and Technology.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COMMITTEE

FUNCTIONS

The Grievance Redressal Cell at our institution serves as a dedicated platform for addressing the concerns and grievances of SC/ST students and employees. Here are the key functions of the cell:


1. Addressing Academic and Administrative Issues: The cell assists SC/ST students and employees in resolving their academic and administrative problems within the institution.


2. Dealing with Representations: It handles representations received from SC/ST candidates regarding admission, recruitment, promotion, and other related matters within the institution.


3. Dissemination of Government Orders: The cell circulates Government of India orders and Commission decisions related to SC/ST communities, and ensure compliance with these directives. It collects information on appointments, training, and other relevant aspects concerning SC/ST candidates in teaching and non-teaching positions.


4. Policy Evolution and Modification: It collects reports and information on various aspects of education, training, and employment of SC/ST candidates to aid in the development of new policies or modifications to existing ones.


5. Monitoring Remedial Coaching Scheme: The cell monitors the effectiveness of the remedial coaching scheme within the institution, ensuring that it adequately supports SC/ST students.


6. Analysis and Reporting: : It analyzes data on admissions, education, training, and employment of SC/ST individuals, preparing reports and digests for transmission to relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the University Grants Commission.


7. Maintaining Grievance Register: The cell maintains a register specifically for grievances of SC/ST individuals within the institution, ensuring that their concerns are properly documented and addressed.

GRIEVANCE MECHANISM

1 On receiving a complaint, the Committee shall commence a meeting within fifteen days of receipt of complaint.


2 The committee shall fix a date of hearing the complaint which shall be communicated to the aggrieved person.


3 The aggrieved party may either appear in person or submit written averments of his/her case before the Committee.


4 The Committee shall report its findings to the Principal with recommendations if any, within a period of thirty days.
